'Freedom' Story Code '65423' by Chris Ruppenthal

22nd November 1970: Sam leaps into the body of Native American Indian George Washakie, currently in jail after stealing a truck to help his grandfather, Joseph, escape from a nursing home. Roughed up by the racist Sheriff Taggart, Sam is thrown into a cell along with Joseph; however, by a ruse, he and the old man soon escape, making off in the stolen truck just as George’s sister, Suzanne, arrives to post their bail. Armed with a shotgun, Taggart sets off in pursuit, planning to bring in the two Indians no matter what. Learning that Joseph has emphysema, Sam proposes taking the old man to a hospital; however, his grandfather refuses, preferring to return to the Indian reservation where he once lived. Then Al appears and informs Sam that he is here to help George’s grandfather die with dignity – something that goes against everything Sam stands for as a doctor…
